People say that the soul upon hearing the song of Creation entered the body, but in reality the soul itself was the song.” ~Hafiz
Sound will be the medicine of the future.” ~Edgar Cayce
Do you know that our soul is composed of harmony?” ~Leonardo da Vinci
We are energetic beings- made up of a bioenergetic field often referred to as our aura. From a vibratory standpoint, disharmony is disease. This is a key point. All disease- whether physical or psychological results from distortion of the primary bioenergetic harmonies constrained within our aura and the chakras.
Sound, when used with intention helps bring harmony into our system while shifting and raising our vibration. Sacred sound- whether spoken in the form of prayer and mantra or received and listened to in music or gemstone alchemy bowls, connects us with something both ancient and familiar. Sacred sound heals disharmony by returning our systems to resonance.
Use sound to bring yourself back to harmony. Allow it to unravel you in the places within that have become knotted and out of alignment. Sacred sound- whether spoken or received takes us to deeper places within our universe and ourselves.
Sound healing has ancient roots. It is fascinating to consider the privileged place of song and storytelling among our ancestors. Kings and queens may have been the leaders of tribes but the storytellers held a unique place among the people. Within their stories, they held the entire history of a people.
Most ancient cultures used the seemingly magical power of sound to heal.
Aboriginal peoples of Australia have used the didgeridoo for at least 40,000 years. With the low humming vibration of this instrument, they healed broken bones and illnesses of many kinds.
The Egyptian culture dating back to 4000 BC used vowel sound chants for healing. In a letter from Asklepios to King Amman, it is written, “As for us, we do not use simple words but sounds all filled with power.”
In Greece, Pythagoras, around 500 BC is today considered the father of musical therapy. He called his own mathematical musical methods: musical medicine.
The power of sound to create and heal is even talked about in the Bible and the even older Hindu Vedas. Genesis 1:3 relates, “And God said, let there be light and there was light.” And in the New Testament John states, “In the beginning was the word.”
This idea is paralleled in the Vedas, where it relates, “In the beginning was Brahman with whom was the word.”
This theme of the power of sound to both create and heal has been found throughout our known history. For the past 4 years, I have been using gemstone alchemy bowls for both individual and group sound healing work.
These bowls are not only beautiful in both appearance and the sound they create, the are portals to higher states of consciousness.
Those who have attended my group healing sessions report a sense of deep relaxation, less stress and more creativity in the days following a session.
Science has shown that the sound from these gemstone crystal bowls slow our brain waves from the active and alert alpha waves to the theta waves usually seen with dream states. By slowing the brain waves in this way, our energetic body can reach for harmony. We open and heal.
Many ask me how and why they feel so different after a sound healing session. Some have less pain in their physical body. Others, who are in acute stages of grief after the loss of a loved one, find emotional comfort and steadiness. Still others, who came in to the session anxious and stressed out find themselves at peace.
Sometimes during the session, emotions will bubble to the surface in the form of tears. This startles some participants as they don’t understands why a memory would surface during these seemingly simple tones.
The answer is both simple and complex.
Directed sacred sound coupled with the intention to heal creates miracles.
Sound literally shapes our realities. Everything that has occurred in our lives is recorded in our bodies. These events are recorded in our tissues as memories that actually exude a sound. These areas respond to sacred sound. They can change shape when engaged by either our voice or the gemstone bowls. Sound seems to be able to touch us where hands and words cannot reach.
I offer individual sound healing sessions and am available for group sessions as well.
